Music Awards

In addition to our annual Jazz Awards – presented at our A Night of Jazz event – we have provided numerous opportunities especially for emerging musicians.

The Helpmann Academy Award for Voice is one such opportunity available to vocalists who are final year students or graduates from selected programs from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide. Supported by Dr Rob Lyons this award is valued at $5,000.

Past awards such as the Mike Stewart Memorial Award and the Keith & Susie Langley Memorial Award provide additional opportunities to emerging jazz musicians when they need it most; at the beginning of their career.

We have also partnered with The Northern Sound System (NSS) to deliver SONGS: A Northern Sound System and Helpmann Academy Collaboration. SONGS, was a song-writing intensive, that combined leading South Australian music producers, emerging original artists and graduates from the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music to write an original work each day.
